Garlic Prawn

I saw fresh and young asparagus in the market, I couldn't resist myself from buying the asparagus. But how am I gonna cook it? I remembered the garlic prawn dish with asparagus I saw at WokkingMum blog. I would try this dish.

Fresh Asparagus

Large Tiger Prawns before I cook them.

Instead of blanching, I stir fry the asparagus with garlic and oyster sauce. And for the prawn, I stir fry with lots of garlic and sweet soya sauce. It was delicious, the prawns were so fresh I could taste the sweetness.

I cooked another half of the lotus root.

Min Sok Chon

"It is cold today, I want to eat something with soup",says Karn. She mentioned about Korean takeaway noodle in Liverpool St Lane. It happened to be Hokka Hokka. Eerrkk...I resisted eating there. So we went to a Korean Restaurant opposite, Min Sok Chon.

Normally side dish will come first as entree in Korean Restaurant but here, the side dish come together with the meal we ordered. Perhaps they are sick of people finishing the side dish then ask for more.

Side Dish: Pickled Radish and Carrot, Pickled Spicy Radish, Kim Chi, Beansprout and Potato in sweet sauce.

Stew Beef Soup with Shredded Omelette Topping. The beef was chewey.

Spicy Fish Roe Soup. This is not bad but I've tried better spicy fish roe soup.

Steam Tofu and Mixed Mushroom

I wanted to cook something but no frying involved, what could I cook? Browsing around and saw this recipe at WokkingMum blog, it fit my requirement. Then I went shopping and saw lotus root. Jon loves lotus root soup but I never cook since it takes long time. I saw the price was $9.99/kg. Ok, I decided to cook lotus soup too and I chose a big one without realising that lotus root is heavy. It happened that the lotus root I chose was 1.1 kg and it cost almost $11. It was so big and I only cooked half of it.

Steam Tofu with Mixed Mushroom

It took 3.5 hours to cook this lotus root soup with small fire.

Black Chicken Herbal Soup

It was the second time I cooked Black Chicken Herbal Soup. Instead of boiling the soup, I steamed it. Put a bowl of water, add the herbal for chicken soup and add the chicken, then steam it. Jon loves it.

Ramen Kan Again

Guess that I have to rename my blog as food journey with Karn? The last time we went Ramen Kan, it was her first time eating there. Today she suggested going there again :). The thing about the table for two there, they are very close to one another that you can hear the conversation between the people next to you very clearly.

I have always ordered Pork Base Soup. For the first time today, I tried Chicken Base Soup. I had Tokyo Ramen. It came with fish cake, sliced porks, bamboo shoots and egg. The Chicken Base Soup wasn't nice compared to the pork based ones. Tokyo Ramen at Ichiban Boshi is definetely better (personal preference).

This time round, Karn tried Tan Tan Ramen. It is spicy ramen but with pork base soup and a little bit of miso paste, delicate chilli paste mixed with minced pork. She seems to prefer the Spicy Ramen Chicken Base Soup.

Ramen Kan

Ramen Kan is one of my favorite Japanese Restaurant. It has nice interior and the food is not so expensive, but be prepare to wait for seats during peak lunch or dinner hours. I have always wanted to try other menu, but everytime I come here, I ended up eating ramen. I can't resist their ramen.

Crab and Corn Ramen with Tonkatsu Soup. The soup is too thick for my liking (personal preference).

Spicy Ramen (Chicken Base Soup). This was definetely better that Tan Tan Ramen (Spicy Ramen with Pork Base Soup). The soup was light with chili oil and pork chunks.

Pasteur

As a result of not going to Pasteur last Sunday, we headed there for lunch today. Although the place is always crowded, there never seems to be shortage of space.

Combination Broken Rice. With this particular order, I have always asked for grilled satay pork. However this time round I didn't because I assumed it would come with fried chicken intead. But grilled pork chop was served instead. So disappointing.

@Bangkok AGAIN

Went dinner with the gang on Sunday. There are so many places to eat but why it seems that we always can't decide where to go or what to eat? I suggested Hanabi Korean food. But Karn felt like eating Vietnamese noodle. Ok, we decided to go Pasteur. But on the way, Johandri and Jon suddenly changed their mind as they just went to Pasteur two days ago. Both of them felt like eating Thai. OMG! Karn happily suggested @Bangkok. Oh Nooo, not again! So it was my 5th visit in the last 2 months. But it was alright as they have different menu for dinner. I normally have my lunch there. Here we go again...

Stir Fried King Prawn with vegetables. It was good, I love the sauce but Karn said it was too sweet for her liking.

Clear Soup Pork Leg Tom Yum. This was sooo good. I have never tried clear soup tom yum and didn't know that pork leg tom yum existed. I thought tom yum was always with seafood. Jon enjoyed eating the "fillings" in the bone. Eewww.

Chicken Basil with Deep Fried Century Egg. This was the best chicken basil I have ever had in my whole life! (exaggerated.) I love the deep fried century egg and the basil was deep fried too.

I forgot what is this named. Chilli pork with some herbs. It was so spicy we didn't finish it.

Thai Milk Tea. Both Jon and Johandri love their milk tea.

Passion Flower

Went to Passion Flower at Capitol as Karn wanted to try the Lychee Mousse and Brownie to compare with her Lychee Mousse and her Brownie.

Lychee Mousse with cream

It was yummy, melt in the mouth and had strong lychee taste. I have never tasted Karn's Lychee Mousse so I can't compare.

Brownie

I am not a fan of Brownie, but if I were to go again, I would order something else.

@Bangkok

It was the 4th time I visited @Bangkok Restaurant in 2 months. It is because Karn loves the food so much that everytime I went lunch with her, she would suggest this place.

I remembered the first time I came here, I ordered the herb soup noodle, it was nice. I ordered the same thing again but I just couldn't taste it. I think I began to get sick of this place.

Kuay Tiew Nue Toon Thin rice noodle in team herb soup with stew pork/beef and bean sprout.

When the order came, I was surprised that the noodle was vermicelli. I told Karn what I wanted and she ordered for me in Thai. I asked her," Did I tell you what noodle I want?" "No, I decided for you", she replied.
Oh...so bad!!

Karn enjoying her noodle.

Grilled Fish

Most of the time, I have an idea of what to cook, however as soon as I finish shopping, I would feel so lazy and would rather eat out. Both Jon and I waited for Johandri to respond whether if he wanted to head on out for dinner. Since there was no respond from him, I started cooking...

Grilled Baramundi with salad, mushroom and leftover garlic bread. (Jon definitely prefer eating home!)

Bavarian Bier Café

Reading Grab Your Fork always makes me hungry. As soon as I read Helen's post on Bavarian Bier Café I called to make booking.

Henkel Trocken Picollo $2 on Thursday 5pm-8pm

I had exactly what Helen had haha, Crackling Roast Pork Belly. The crackling was awesome. I wish there was less fat.

Jon had grain fed steak fillet.

Johandri had the Bavarian Platter.

Johandri struggled to finish his beer.
